Bridgend’s Feastival stars in You Got Framed USA

The US version of “You Got Framed”, the global hit TV programme has showcased a You Tube hit video made at last year’s “Feastival” in Bridgend.

Feastival – The Wales Alternative Food Festival organised by Bridgend County Borough Council, was held for the first time last year and was an outstanding success attracting more than 35,000 people to the town.

One of Feastival 2010′s main attractions was a 10 foot high ‘cauliflower sheep’ created to highlight food recycling and filmed using time-lapse photography especially for release on YouTube. And even though the ambitious food art project eventually collapsed, the sheep has become an internet hit and attracted the interest of US TV producers.

Councillor David Sage, Deputy Leader for Bridgend County Borough Council, and the Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said: “The cauliflower sheep was probably one of the most unusual things ever seen at a Food Festival in the UK and it certainly put Bridgend on the map. I understand she even has her own Facebook page!

“Her eventual disintegration became an internet sensation attracting over 30,000 views on YouTube in just one week. We were then approached out of the blue by a TV company in the US who asked permission to screen it on their version of ‘You’ve Been Framed’.

We were happy to help of course. We’re already wondering who will be the star of this year’s Feastival. I feel sure we will have a surprise or two to ensure it lives up to its alternative status.”

Feastival – The Wales Alternative Food Festival will be returning to Bridgend on 30 September and 1
October 2011.

Meanwhile, in the town centre this Saturday 13 August, shoppers will be able to enjoy some unusual entertainment in the form of ‘Paint Over the Bridge’ featuring emerging artists, an urban art trail, workshops, statue artists, and an outdoor art exhibition.

Here’s the video – have fun:
