Bridgend Library Service’s new facility to download audio-books will be a boon to all of us who need some light relief from our boring tasks.
Whether you are mowing the lawn, driving in your car or doing the ironing, there is always an occasion when you have both hands occupied, but your brain is underused. Now book lovers in Bridgend County Borough are set to benefit from new technology which will enable them to download more than 600 audio book titles directly from the Bridgend Library and Information Service.
It follows the introduction of Clipper DL, a brand new download facility which is being made available at all branch libraries.
Library members with broadband internet access will be able to download Clipper’s bestselling unabridged audio books from anywhere in the world.
The download process is easy to use and suitable for listeners of all ages, including children, so all library members will be able to enjoy the new format. Titles include:
-
The Lost Symbol – Dan Brown.
-
This Charming Man – Marian Keyes.
-
Exit Music – Ian Rankin.
-
The Little Stranger – Sarah Waters.
-
The Enchantress of Florence – Salman Rushdie.
-
Mercy – Jodi Picoult.
With new titles added every month, members will have an ever-increasing number of audio books to choose from.
Councillor Lyn Morgan, Cabinet Member for Libraries, said: “This new service will mean that waiting lists will become a thing of the past as each title has unlimited availability, allowing the latest bestsellers to be downloaded at the same time.
“Book lovers will be able to use the service to enjoy our audio book collection when and where it suits them.”
