Last weekend saw the Bridgend Show take over the fields of Pencoed College. Staff members from Bridgend Country Borough Council’s Healthy Living Services showcased a selection of activities to keep all ages and abilities active this summer.

The children’s challenges proved popular with many youngsters trying their hand at bean bag throwing, colouring competitions and hoopla games. It was the adults rowing challenge however that became the main attraction with many people eager to compete and row 500m in the fastest time for a chance to win a months free Bridge Card membership.

Staff also held demonstrations throughout the weekend ranging from the lively Zumba and line dancing to fit ball and kettle bells. Members of the public were keen to join in with staff and even swimming mascot, Dewi the Dolphin gave an energetic performance.

Staffs expertise and a range of literature was available across both days to provide advice and information on all aspects of the leisure centres and keeping active.

The council offers a wide variety of sports facilities and activities at the different leisure centres and swimming pools.
